Winery Profile
At William James Cellars it is our goal to exceed your expectations with outstanding wine, exceptional service and an unforgettable experience by sharing with you the romance of wine country in Santa Barbara County.

Upon opening in 2003 with two varietals, Chardonnay and Syrah, Robin Bogue, owner and winemaker of William James Cellars has added a dozen more varietals to her wine making portfolio. Robin experiments with stainless steel, oak and neutral oak, as well as blends of Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Sangiovese, Rose, Dessert Chardonnay, Sparkling and Port.

Robin brings more than 20 years of award-winning winemaking experience to William James Cellars.† The name ĎWilliam Jamesí comes from her father, Bill and son, James. Robinís interest in wine began at a young age, when her family moved to Shandon, California.†Robins father Bill, consulted, managed, planted and irrigated many of the vineyards found on the Central Coast of California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, New Mexico, Missouri and Virginia.

For Robin, winemaking is one of the many hats she wears owning a full production winery.†Along with designing her labels and marketing materials, she also meets with the vineyard growers, walks the vines during the growing season and personally drives in the harvested hand picked fruit to the winery.†Robin alongside her team crushes, de-stems and ferments dry the fruit before barreling down.†

During the offseason of harvest, Robin manages and operates her tasting room in downtown Santa Ynez.†In the tasting room Robin leads her guests through interesting wine & food pairings, including but not limited to wine infused chocolates, salsa pairing, and nuts.†You can also find Robin brewing beer, conducting blind varietal tastings, hosting wine education classes, wine club events, live music and coming this spring, tasting on the patio surrounded by the vineyards and hills of the valley.

Robins claim to winemaking fame has come with two prestigious wins for Chardonnay and Grenache.†She won "Best of Class", "Best of Santa Barbara County", "Best Red Varietal" and approximately 25 Gold medals for her wines.†Robinís children have also personally made wines under their label called, St. James in honor of Katherine, Laurel and James. Selling out within a few months has created the demand to increase production 200%.

Robinís Manifesto: I am a goddess, and my body is my temple; so therefore I drink wine!
